In Appcues, permalinks allow users to relaunch guides, announcements and surveys at-will for testing or for user engagement. Permalinks are often used as a link from a targeted email, but do not require the engagement audience logic to be dedicated to the link. By clicking a permalink, Appcues content will be manually called so when the user is redirected, and the content will be fired based on the permalink.
In PX imagine being able to use non-url based rules in audience logic like User and Account attributes or feature usage to trigger an engagement, but permalinks provide an alternate link-based trigger mechanism apart from the audience logic.
An additional use case here is engagement approval. If a PX admin wants to share an engagement with the exec team for approval, they are limited to either:
- share a screen cap
- edit the audience logic, make the engagement live, and share a sequence of actions to trigger the engagement in-app
- ask the approver to log in to PX, fin the engagement, switch to the editor, and launch a preview to the correct url
The permalink would be a one click engagement launch from an email.
