Link Older Timeline Entry to New CTA

Hey Gainsight!

Something that would be helpful would be the ability to link old timeline entries to a new CTA. The reason for this is that during certain projects we manage a one time update or issue is noted in timeline. Sometimes that is all that it is, but often we see a trend of similar events reoccuring.

For example, I have a client who asked for additional training around a specific subject which led to a one-time timeline entry. Since then, they have asked several times for training and QnA sessions, which I would like to track collectively as a CTA being that it seems to be part of a larger project to manage vs a one-off request.

This is one example of many times I have found a trend of events with a client and would have liked to track and easily update the overall project of using a CTA.

Thanks!

Hi Glen,

One way to accomplish this would be to copy the Activity Link from the historical timeline entry (entries) in question and add it to the notes in the new CTA. You can do this as shown in the image below.

Hey Dan,

Thanks for that workaround, I'll likely do that in the interm. What I like about CTAs and timeline entries is the ability to quickly scroll, expand any timeline entry within that CTA, and edit it without having to navigate between multiple pages via links or creating duplicate timeline entries after the fact.

I like your idea though and will be doing that until a feature exists along the lines of the original post.

Thanks!

Another reason to be able to associate an existing timeline entry to a CTA is human error. Several of our users create timeline entries at the C360 level when they should have created them at the CTA level. We'd like to ability to clean this up.

Should this be filed under an enhancement request with Gainsight?

Thanks!

Lyne

Is this being discussed as an enhancement by Gainsight?

I hope so @Lyne! I've come across this situation where either I or someone else forgot there was a CTA created and have to go through quite the manual process to recreate the timeline entry if I want it to show nicely within the CTA timeline.

@dan_ahrens I was wondering is this needs to be officially entered as an enhancement request. If not, is this on the roadmap already?

Thanks!

Lyne

@nitisha_rathi - any thoughts on this idea?

Hi,

Linking one or multiple CTAs to an existing Timeline entry is in our roadmap. ETA not yet finalized but tentatively will be available in next 2 quarters.

Thanks,

Nitisha

Thanks Nitishan, Dan!

We have seen this request at atenahealth, too. It has renewed energy with email to Timeline and those activities never being associated with CTAs. Would love to see this on the roadmap soon.

Re-upping this as it would be helpful for our org. We manage certain types of client interactions in Timeline and I’d like to transfer some of them to CTAs. I’d get more leverage if I could associate old entries with new CTAs

Hi,

Tentatively, this will be available in Q2.

@nitisha_rathi  Hi there, has this update been pushed back?

Because of other priorities we are not able to get to this enhancement. We will get to it in early 2021.

@nitisha_rathi When is this coming out? We have a requirement to link timeline entries made within the account to CTAs.

Hi all, thanks for sharing the feedback. This is on our short-term roadmap and the tentative delivery date for this feature is early Q3.

Would love an update on this functionality since I know it isn’t live yet - is it still on the roadmap with a new timeline? @Chirag  😊

We have addressed this by using associate records and linking CTAs to timeline entries.

@aparimala , would you mind expanding on your idea? What is an associate record? Thanks!
