We are using the Snowflake Connector to fetch data from Snowflake. It supports password authentication and OAuth for the authentication method. However, Snowflake is persuading to use key-pair authentication for its service accounts. Our company's security policy also prefers key-pair authentication for Snowflake service accounts whenever possible. It would be appreciated if the more secure authentication would be available.
Snowflake has said that by November 2025, they will block sign-ins using single-factor authentication with passwords. https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/blocking-single-factor-password-authentification/

My organization has a preference for key-pair authentication for its service accounts. Could you please provide an update on the status of this feature?
We would appreciate any information before November, as it will assist us in planning accordingly.
Since Snowflake is no longer supporting password auth for service accounts in November 2025, we need an alternative for connecting to Snowflake for continuity of operation of Gainsight CS. I am wondering if there is an alternative already or will the key-pair auth be implemented before Nov 2025?
It would be great to have an update soon. We recently switched to OAuth on Snowflake connectors and now have to re-authenticate every 90 days to keep our data sync active.
+1 here, due to security reasons our Snowflake Admins requires key-pair authentication as well.
Hi All,
We are planning to enhance Snowflake authentication with Key-Pair authentication. We have picked it up and its slotted for next release.
As John noted, the fallback for now is 90 days re authentication with OAuth.
