Enable Link Tracking in Email Templates 2.0

I've noticed the section to "Enable Link Tracking" in email templates 2.0, but I can't find any supporting documentation regarding what this actually does.  

Has anybody used this before? Does it just enable click rates when individuals click on that link?

    That's right.  Link tracking isn't always turned on any more since some folks have found that it can impact deliverability.
