So even though it doesn’t exactly answer your original question the article does provide guidance on how you can utilize the emailt to timeline functionality.  Disregard if it isn’t pertinent.

what email client does IBM use? if it its outlook we do have add-in for outlook. Here is the more details.

Ibm uses Lotus Notes . We have a lotus notes web client called Verse

@thesimpledata  we do not support lotus notes as of today. But you can use Bcc to timeline feature, where by using a Bcc email id you can log emails to timeline.
