Love the topic!Ā šŸ”„
I would love to know more about the opportunity creation in relation to having advocacy programmes that currently is picking up on a lot of online communities.

  • When is the ideal time to create something like that internally for a community?
  • How do you know if a member would be perfect for an advocacy program?

I would love to know more about the opportunity creation in relation to having advocacy programmes that currently is picking up on a lot of online communities.

  • When is the ideal time to create something like that internally for a community?
  • How do you know if a member would be perfect for an advocacy program?

These are both great questions! At Sequoia, we are still working on building out an advocacy program that will be manageable and scalable for both myselfĀ (as the only Community manager) as well as the program members. Our community members are HR and People leaders within the tech industry, so there is a seasonality to a lot of our engagement and content which is taking more time for us to develop an advocacy program. But, here are a few things we are considering in our research:

  • Is the member someone who asks a lot of questions, or do they offer more thought-leadership/answers to peer questions?
  • Does the Community engagement pick up when certain clients are starting the conversation? Who are those engaged folks?
  • Are there competing priorities in our clientsā€™ worlds right now?Ā
  • What market does the member represent? SMB, MID, ENT, Start up?
  • What drives the members? Incentives, gamification, knowledge sharing?

I think kicking off an advocacy program varies a lot between communities, so I would recommend digging in to a few of those questions above and making sure you are really in tune with your community population to ensure you are doing what is best for the community and the business.

Hope this helps! :)Ā

Thank you for these thought provoking questionsĀ @jessicadanielsĀ šŸ™ŒšŸ¼
