Hi team,

I want to create a couple of new feeds in our Community, with content related to specific subject matter that doesn’t necessarily slot neatly into any single one of our Categories.

To achieve this, is there any way to turn a search results page into a HTML Widget?

For example:

  • I have a “Guide” tag that we apply to any post that contains a step-by-step guide, regardless of which category it was posted to
  • I want to feature a feed of everything tagged with “guide” on our Community Overview page
  • And I don’t want to have to constantly update that feed in customise, it should be as live as the “Recently Active” feed.

Any ideas?

@Onomatopoeia I’m curious to hear if someone comes up with a solution here, other than waiting for the update on the “Community content & categories” widget to be improved.

For now I’d say the best option would be to leverage the Search API: https://api2-eu-west-1.insided.com/docs/search/#tag/Search

But there would be some heavy customisation involved on the page that receives it. Curious to hear if anyone has attempted this, I guess if you pull it off once you can then pretty much do any version of it you want…

Hope this is a good starting point. Looking forward to other replies!

Thanks @SmartlyGreg that’s a great shout! API skills is sadly something missing from my team at the moment so I’d like to avoid that if possible. I’ll keep the thread open just in case others want the same thing / have suggestions :)
