I am not quite getting how your customized pages work.

-I created a page

-Then went into the widgets area and picked a layout

-Then tried to rename the different parts of the page. Basically tried to rename these:

Note:

-I want this to be a completely new page because I will be creating several custom pages.

-I need a simple layout 2 rows of three boxes

Suggestions on how to do this?

If you’re looking to do a customized page, I’d recommend recreating the layout your show with the Quick Links widget instead.

It looks like you’re using one of the other widgets for showing community categories. The trouble with that approach is that renaming them (via phrasing, if it’s possible, or on the back end) will change the name of those categories/forums across your whole community.

Based on this

-I want this to be a completely new page because I will be creating several custom pages.

-I need a simple layout 2 rows of three boxes

Quick links is the widget you want to use. You can customize what the tiles say, the icon they use, where they link to, etc.

Thank you @DannyPancratz  -- You highlight what I would consider a key opportunity for improvement. I was surprised when I tried to change the names of the widgets, it changed the names across the site.

I don’t I agree. The phrasing tool is for editing site-wide phrases on specific components of the platform; it is not intended for phrases on a single page. Perhaps that could be made clearer in the UX.

However, I do agree that widgets should be as customizable as possible.

I think the issue here is using prebuilt widgets based on modules (and their categories and components) of the platform:

  • community category
  • knowledge base
  • groups

It’s nice that these come packaged a bit more “ready to go,” but it makes sense to me that they’re rendering the phrasing from the module, categories, and components within.

Generally, I find quick links and featured content to be the preferred solution that needs to truly be customized.

I think we are talking about two different things.

As you point out -- Knowledge Base, for example, should always be called Knowledge Base.

Maybe this info will clarify things:

  • I want to use a template that has 6 boxes on the page
  • I want to use the template 2+ times (on two different pages)
  • I want to have the text in these boxes different on each page

An example:

  • One page could be about baseball and I have six baseball related links
  • One page could be about soccer and I have six soccer related links.

As you point out, Quick Links might be another option.

Thank you for the info here.
