Is there a way to deduct points from a user, for example when they have created duplicate topics (of which one is removed later) and hence got double points?

The answer is mostly “no.”
There are exceptions around likes and answers: the points awarded for receiving a like or having a reply marked as the answer are removed when the the like is undone or answer unmarked.
I’m 95% sure that’s not the case for points awarded for creating topics or replies (deleting the topic/reply does not undo the points.)
Unfortunately, there’s no way via administration (nor via the API) to deduct points. I’ve asked a few times and recently requested Support to undo some points mistakenly assigned via the API; I was told there isn’t really a way to do this and that it might be possible via back end engineering, but it’d take quite some time.
