How can a user delete an account from the community if they request so?

Hi!

We do not offer an option for the user to delete him/herself (e.g. via the user profile settings), because a user might confuse it with deleting the account from your company database.

A user can only be deleted by a Moderator in the control environment, this is explained here.

There is also an option to delete a user via our api. So e.g. you could create a feature which allows your support team to delete the community account when a user asks this to your support team.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Julian
This is noted,

On the other hand, we need to provide the customer with the functionality to inform us about the deletion to take place.

How is this handled by other clients of yours and is there a best practice of how this can be done? TIA

Good question!

I would always recommend to have a general FAQ on the community called "How to delete my (company name) account", in there describe how a user can delete 1) company account and 2) community account.

This way you cover everything and users will find the information easily via the search function.
OK I understand, So as I see it, a user needs to notify us (by writing on the CF or private message) to get deleted, am I right?

However is this the only option? Is there a way in the back-end that we can enable this?
