Since the beginning of this year we are using the community widget in our software, mainly to give users easy access to relevant topics, training material, and how to's.

Because we are writing our own training material, we want to make sure that those topics will be shown first (because they are 100% relevant to the page), so we mark the pages in Embedable Widget > Content Configuration.

We have a number of (upcoming) issues with this method:

  • It is not possible to search on the page (besides crtl+F). Because of the many pages this is less then ideal.

  • Some topics are relevant for multiple pages. When configuring the content it doesn't feel right I have to do the configuring for each page. I know you can use part of the URL, which helps sometimes, but not all the times because some training materials cover a lot of ground.

Do you recognize these issues? And any idea how to work with those issues.
Hey Koen,

Thanks for the post - unfortunately right now we don't think there's much more that you can do to work around these issues other than what you've already described.

Agreed that when you start building up a lot of pages that the content configuration overview becomes difficult to manage - we see why a search would be helpful here, and also perhaps showing more information to help you navigate your pages, or even grouping them.

We're also familiar with your use case for adding topics to more than one page - we think a more sophisticated rules engine for the URLs would help here (e.g. adding OR conditions to a page, so that the content shows in multiple places).
