Text editor works nicely, generally speaking, but I would like to know what is the best way to edit the quotes?
If there is quote after quote after quote, and you want to delete for example the first quote, in this case I want to delete Leo´s comment, what is the best way to do it?
I have to activate correct “field” in the editor and then I can delete it? Where to press, to activate correct “field”?
When I use mobile I find this more difficult. I have to tab several times “there and there”, to find the correct place to activate correct field to remove quote from the post.
(Sorry horrible quality)
I think I have to get this “bolded” blue frame and then when pressing backspace I can remove Leo´s comment? What is the best way to get this bolded blue frame when using mobile device?

Additionally, what is the best way to remove the images from the quote?
And last, where are these explained?
Is there easy way to edit those? I can edit them but it takes time and effort and extra pressings to different places. I would like to know what is the best way to edit quotes.
Hey @revote ?,
I think this functionality might be being affected by the following bug:
I don’t think you would usually see the bold blue borders around the quotes. However, this is the area that needs to be targeted if you want to edit these quotes.
From testing out this functionality, you are able to edit the contents of the quote but not the text that informs you who wrote it. For example:
Is there easy way to edit those?...I can edit this part but not the ‘revote wrote:’ above.
For the dotted line and return symbol. This appears to be functionality designed so that you can shift the quotes down and insert content above them.
I doubt we can change this behaviour without an update to the text editor but I can check with our product team.
What images are you referring to that you want to delete?
Is the frustrating experience you’re describing mostly on mobile?
How many extra times are you needing to click?
If you could share a video that would be super helpful ?

Hmm, maybe affected somehow but I think we are talking about different things.
I havent seen this square popping in our community before today (I´ve been away two days), but issues with editing quote has been several months. I just havent asked before.

Yes, this is clear.

Just images what are added to the comment. Usually they are not important to include to the quote, so it would be nice to know what is the best way to delete them there
Mostly, yes. But on desktop as well
Hmm, maybe 3-5 times, at least?
I cant promise the video, we´ll see :)
Let’s lift this topic up.
Editing quotes can be pain in the a**. Especially when using mobile. I have added examples above, from desktop, here is one from mobile:
What is the easiest way to delete post starting with “Is there way to hide...”?
I think the key thing is to get blue frame around the post you want to delete but where to tab, to get the blue frame around the post? Usually I tab randomly here and there and finally blue frame appears and then I can press backspace to delete the post.
I think there should be easy way?

Hey @revote - this isn’t something I honestly do very often so I just did some testing on my phone. While I don’t get the mouseover highlight on mobile, of course, I do find it quite easy and intuitive to tap the line of the box (or the little icon on the top-left) in order to highlight it, so I can then remove it. For me it works quite reliably.
This is in Chrome on an iPhone 13 Pro. Maybe it behaves slightly differently on other devices? Which device and browser are you using?

Yeah, I totally understand. I think I am only one here, who uses quotes If people doesnt use quotes, they dont edit quotes.
I have even started topic to discuss why you dont use quotes. I dont get it. People here just like to use mentions. It makes so difficult to follow what was the question, or post, what was answered. Especially when topic is long and there is several users discussing. Maybe I have to start campaign - make quotes great again!
But, I am not only one. Finnish community/forum users we use quotes.

You mean this icon or what?
If I tap the line of the box, I have to do it several times. I mean so many times than it makes me feel this doesnt work at all.

I use iPhone 14 Pro but the biggest thing is that I use Safari.
@revote Oh I totally agree that quotes are useful! Especially in busy topics. When I used to run large B2C communities (like yours) I often found myself in situations with very long chatty topics where quotes were essential. We just don’t have those so often here (and I post mostly from control / laptop).
Anyway, I just did a bit more testing in Safari and I agree it doesn’t work quite as nicely as in Chrome. What I did discover, though, is that if I tap the ‘box’ on the left-hand vertical line, it selects the box very predictably. If I try to tap the box on one of the other borders (e.g. the bottom border) it doesn’t work well. Have you found that too?

Yes!
Actually, it requires two taps: First tap chooses the box and second tap adds the bold blue frames around it and then it can be deleted if needed. Excellent! Thanks a lot.
