We are looking at implementing surveys to out community using VWO. I can see a thread mentioning this is possible here:
However, I’m not seeing exactly how to implement the script from the survey vendor.
Where is this process documented? where does the script go? Is it just added into the third Party scripts section under customization?

Yes the process for this usually depends on which third party vendor is chosen but as with most of these Third Party Scripts they are added to either the <head> or <body> section in Customization → Third-Party Scripts.
From looking at the VWO documentation, after configuring the survey in the VWO portal, the survey is added in the head section of inSided using a ‘SmartCode’ https://help.vwo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019420774-What-is-VWO-SmartCode
