Can I set the default to be Newest First for Posts/Topics within a specific category only?
Use case: I have a News Category in which posts will regularly receive replies where the latest reply is the most relevant. And after some time, the threads may become quite lenghthy.

Basic usecase and an Open Idea at this point
The thread naturally evolves about the cause for end-user latest-first relevance although the original idea started about the more niche admin usecase.
Moreover for Ideas… the time sorter needs to be made available as well.
