Situation:

You have problem with your SSO and because of that login doesnt work. You want to inform the users about the problem.

What you want to do:

  1. Create a topic to share the info → This can be done by creating a new topic from Control → OK
  2. You want to promote the topic in the banner, top of the community → This can be done from Control → OK
  3. You want to disable the login, by disabling or maybe even deleting the login buttons → You cant do this because you cant login to the community. You cant hide Mega menu, or any other widgets in the community front page, where you have added CTA´s to promote the login

Also:

Using Control you can promote the content by adding it to the Banner widget. Yes. But what you cant do is that if there already was topic, you cant delete it from Control. So it means there is two topics promoted.

Normally when you promote the topic in the Banner widget, you use neutral colors like green or your brand colors. When having error situations you want to change the widget color, usually to red. You cant do this from Control.

So I am asking is there way to login to the community, in every situations, to get access to the community frontpage and community itself? Using some kind of “Super mega admin”.

I think we are not only one who has sometimes problems with the systems 😀 Yes, we are doing our best to avoid problems but but.

I think there are other community admins out there who have problem to login to the community? When we used Khoros we had “super admin” credentials, what worked in every situations.

Hey @revote - yep I totally understand your question and this use case.  We don’t currently have a ‘super admin’ login that we can provide to customers.  Though we do have that ourselves.  So if and when you run into something like this, which should hopefully be very rare, anyone on our side will be able to help out.  So that could be your CSM, our Support team - or even me via a PM!

Thanks @Kenneth R. Yes, luckily these are rare situations. Let´s keep it that way :D

I understand that you can help us, and thanks for that, but what is response time. If I send request Saturday night :D

Yes I get your point.  🙂 In an emergency you do also have the option of briefly turning on default authentication.

This is excellent tip!

Can I ask more; I think I should use separate credentials, to be able to use default authentication? At the moment I have only user what I have created using our SSO.

I don’t have an SSO setup here that I can easily test with but you should be able to use the same account.  Assuming you have our new platform SSO enabled, it will take you through that flow (as soon as it sees that you have a Mod/Admin/CM account).  I think it would be seamless - just like when you go from having just default authentication to enabling SSO for the first time (as long as the email addresses are the same, users log in seamlessly to their usual accounts).

Thanks. I tested and login doesnt work. I think it is best to open a ticket about this and continue there.

Thanks a lot for your help, I think this is good workaround!

Gotcha, and yes might be good to continue with our engineers.  :)
