Hey all, 

We want users of the control environment to find their way easily. Two months ago we released a new menu structure in Control. We are going to make additional changes focusing on Configuration (currently ‘Customisation’), Appearance and Settings. In this article, you will find what the changes will be, so that you can inform your team in advance 🙂. 

⏰The changes mentioned in this topic will be rolled out to your Control environment on Tuesday (Oct 22) around 2pm. 

Updated at Oct 22: The updated menu structure is available now. 

👀This update only involves renaming and reordering pages and categories. User permissions will remain the same.

 

New structure

 

 

How pages are grouped

  • Platform: here you can set up the base structure of the platform: community and knowledge base. 

  • Configuration: here you can find settings to customise your community. E.g. Homepage, Header, Sidebar, etc.

  • Appearance: here you can find settings regarding the look and feel. E.g. Colors, Buttons, Fonts.

  • Settings: here you can find all the settings that affect moderation, or your community in general. 

 

Changes

  1. ‘Customisation’ will be renamed to ‘Configuration’
  2. ‘Side widgets’ will be renamed to ‘Sidebar’
  3. ‘Homepage’ will be moved from ‘Platform’ to ‘Configuration’
  4. ‘Header’ will be moved from ‘Appearance’ to ‘Configuration’
  5. ‘SSI Configuration’ will be moved from ‘Settings’ to ‘Configuration’
  6. ‘Content helpfulness’, ‘Ideation status’, ‘Phrases’ will be moved from ‘Configuration’ to ‘Settings’

 

Q&A

  1. Why ‘Navigation’ is in ‘Appearance’ instead of ‘Configuration’?
    • In ‘Navigation’, you can find settings to to change colors of navigation bar. There is plan to merge ‘Navigation’ into ‘Colors’ page. 
  2. Why ‘Homepage’ is moved from ‘Platform’ to ‘Configuration’?
    • InSided is actively looking into providing more customisation options in homepage (e.g. turn on/off elements, reorder elements, etc).
  3. Why move ‘SSI Configuration’ from ‘Settings’ to ‘Configuration’?
    • ‘SSI Configuration’ is a way to customise header and footer.
