Can I just confirm, if I want someone to be able to write articles either:

  • Their primary role must be Moderator, Community Manager, or Administrator OR
  • They have a custom role with “Forum moderation” turned on

The custom role is the part that most confuses me. There isn’t an option for “Content”, so I’m guessing forum moderation includes that capability… right?

Hi @FMEEvangelist 👋,

I can confirm this is correct. Either of those conditions must be met to have the ability to create articles from the Control environment.

For the custom role configuration, just bear in mind that having ‘Forum Moderation’ does include the ability to create content, as well as enabling access to the Content Overview and all the functionality associated with it e.g. editing content, converting content types, assigning moderators, trashing topics, marking topics as spam.

Thanks @olimarrio,

It’s a little unusual to see those roles combined, so it’s good to know for sure. I’m just setting up a system and I plan to create a custom role called Blogger with Forum Moderation turned on to let them write articles, while grouping them separate from true moderators. Now I know that will work 👍🏻

@FMEEvangelist for a future where that someone need not have to have a backend access to the tool

Cheers!
