When I try to search for a word in an attachment (pdf in my example), the search does not find it.
Is there a way to make it possible to search for a word in an attachment?

Unfortunately not. I know some search technologies do, but we currently do not.
From a Knowledge Management practice, I encourage NOT to attach files that contain important information.
If the attachment is supplementarity that is OK, but I would rather have the important information in the body of the topic/article.
