I thought I had a case or topic about this, but now I can’t find it. I think this must be a bug.

When you search on a category home page, it pulls from the entire community, rather than just the category. Is this working as intended?

Aha - I understand @Kgastaldo, thanks for the detailed explanation.

I can indeed imagine that ‘view all’ in the context of searching within a category could be interpreted differently. As far as I’m aware this isn’t a bug, but a design decision (cc @Yoeri @xiaoyu-shen).

Hey @Kgastaldo - I couldn’t reproduce this on your community - do you have any specific examples?

When you go to a category (People, for example) and search terms in the top bar, then hit “view all” - you get results from the full community.

People only has 173 topics, but when you go to “view all” you get 400 or so (depending on what you searched for). Maybe it should be assumed that “view all” means results from everywhere in the community, but I’ve found that member assume the category still stands as a filter. I’ve explained that they can narrow down the “view all” by selecting the category from the left hand menu.

Hi @Kgastaldo,

I 100% agree with you. I saw that there was no Idea in place for this, so I created one.

Please feel free to upvote it and comment on your own uses for it, so @daniel.boon and his team can hopefully make this happen!
