I’m assuming I am missing something….how can I search for content based solely on tags in the Control admin toolset?

Welcome to inSpired @mstruening , it’s a pleasure to have you here.

I did notice your other thread, and I think I know what’s happening there. I’ll reply to that one shortly once I’ve made sure.

It sounds to me as if you’re trying to search for Moderator Tags, which isn’t too tricky to do, but it’s a little bit hidden away. I’ve found a guide from a few years ago that might help though.

I suspect you can also filter by other tag types as well, but as I’m only a volunteer, I don’t have access to Control to check. But I hope this helps either way.

If you get stuck, definitely feel free to give us a shout!

Thanks for your reply (and welcoming message)!

Apologies for not being clearer…..looking to do a search on content on Public Tags within the Control view.  I’m often trying to find a thread from weeks past and I want to see all of the articles at a glance using tag X.

I can go to the user side of the community and click a tag and see all of that content, but I want to see the same thing from the Admin tool.

No worries :)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything to help figure out whether Public Tags should be included in the options or not. But it definitely sounds like something that should happen. I’ll try and catch @Julian and see if he knows anything. After all, he’s got a lot of catching up to do if he wants to overtake @daniel.boon again…

It is true that we have not added search for public tags to the Control environment search yet. We recently updated the UI to a new overview and some items still need to be added.

You should be able to switch to the old overview however, there we offer search for public tags in the advanced filters:

We have moved away from the old overview as we wanted to improve the performance (e.g. loading speed) as well as the general interface.

It’s indeed quite hard to use tags for reporting purposes. They’re easy to use on the front end, but very hard to report on from a back end perspective, which defeats their purpose a little bit to be honest.
