Hey Insided - This seems like a bug. We are rolling out ideation soon and plan to kind of soft launch it by giving our customers the ability to view, vote on, and comment on ideas, but not post new ones. I have the permissions set where the user can see the category and create comments.

But when I’m in the community, they still see this “Submit an idea” button:

When I click it, I can go through the full step of creating a topic except idea type isn’t an option and the category dropdown is just blank. When I go to create it, it gives me an error about a subject, which also seems wrong:

This would be a pretty bad experience for a customer.

Can that button be removed for those without the permission to create an idea? Do I have some setting incorrect? This seems like a normal request for ideation.

Thanks for flagging this here. It is true that this button should not be visible when a user does not have rights to create a new idea in this category.

What I see is that you are using the “old” ideation module, while we are currently working on our new ideation module (previewing here on inSpired as well).

We can create a bug ticket to solve this, but it might be a better choice for you to switch to the new ideation module, which also has more features than the ideation category you are using right now.

Let me know how you think about this, also @Shane1 can help you further in making the best decision for your community.

Well, we aren’t using ideation at all yet - so it sounds like we should use the new one. @Shane1 can turn that on for us?

Can you use the new ideation module with Zapier?
