Hi,

I work in a Telco company and one of the problem we face with the forum is that a lot of people post without checking in detail the topics before posting. This is quite a problem as part of our forum is used to answer client's concerns, while other parts are for more open discussions. It means we have to switch topics everyday in relevant sections.

Here is therefore my question. Would it be possible, at topic creation, to force the user to choose a subforum BEFORE posting. You know, say you have three main body parts in your forum, to force the user to pick one of them before posting. Of course, that feature would be available for the fast button 'create topic', and only for the main body parts of the forum, sub forum would be still free to select.

Any plans are ideas regarding this issue?
Hi Maxime,

Thanks for your question! Right now, users do have to select a subforum before posting or it will give an error message:

But I guess it is difficult for users to be able to select the right subforum without more information, so if you would like users to have to select more fields before posting you will need to post your idea of the kind of fields you would like users to select here in our ideation forum - https://community.insided.com/ideation-39. And then someone from our Product team will get back to you about your idea 😎 As right now there are no plans for additional fields, so I would be interested in what kind of information you think should be included there.
Hi Shane,

Sure, you can already do that. But let's picture my forum, where you have Body 'A', 'B', and 'C', with sub-forums 'A1, A2,A3', 'B1, B2' B3' and 'C1, C2,C3'.

Now, using your screenshot, let us just imagine that already above 'Title', there are three 'buttons' (no scroll), where you would choose 'A', 'B' or 'C'.

Then you can put your title, content, and then scroll down in the appropriate sub-forum, whether you read in details what they are or not. So for example, my overall topic is a 'B' content, I'm clicking on the 'B' button, and then the scroll down shows me 'B1', 'B2' and 'B3'.

For us, it would be really useful as 'A' could be general information, and 'B' technical support. It would not matter much if a user posts in technical support for tv if he has an internet question, as long as it goes in technical support anyway, where our customer service will pick up his request
Hi Maxime,

Ya makes sense, I've posted this for you in our ideation forum, heres the link. If you have any additions let me know!
