Insided recently released the quick links for the community start page. We are still looking how to implement these in our live community, but that process is ongoing and we will work that out with some help of @Julian.

We received some feedback from our customers stating they couldn't find their own topics and responses. I've been tweaking some javascript in our staging environment and I wanted to show the result with you all.

I've created an extra tile (only when you are logged in) that has 2 link buttons on it: my topics, and my reactions. All current tiles are still experimental by the way.

What do you think of this addition?

Wow, Koen, that looks super nice! 🙂 Very cool idea, thanks for sharing it! This is a really cool use-case of quick links & third-party scripts, would have not expected something like this... :)

Some quick feedback:

  • I personally would use one of the center tiles for this, as I feel that it will look nicer with the icons around it.

  • Another link which many users are not aware of is the list of topics which a user has subscribed to: https://community.insided.com/favorite/overview

But this already is an extremely handy addition to your community the way it is, keep up the good work! Would be awesome to start a library of smart adjustments like thesem, so that other communities can benefit from it!?

I am finalizing a document around quick links and best practices at the moment, I will share it with you once it's done so that you can learn what other communities are doing.

Cheers,

Julian
Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to figure out how to also add the subscribed topics. Regarding the library: I don't want to start up a git-page or something like that, because of the overhead. But I'll start a new topic in the How-to's category. When needed we can always scale up to a more developer-ready approach.

I'll be looking forward to the document around the quick links!
I've created a topic. I also made comment to it with the code but it somehow got flagged for review by your moderators. I'm sure it will be visible soon.

So: wanna know how I created the extra tile: visit the Awesome third party scripts topic.
Woohoo, thank you for creating that topic!!

I have been reluctant to start such a topic myself, as hosting this "officially" gives users the taste of being fully supported features/additions by inSided. This would give a wrong impression that we are responsible to fix or maintain any functionality presented there...

Nevertheless I will promote this topic where possible, so that others will contribute as well. :)

On a side note: we are working on improving the editor so that posting code is less of a headache. ;)

Cheers,

Julian
