When mentioning a user in my reply, do they get two notifications?

Hi everyone,
Quick question:

If I reply in a member’s topic, and also mention them in my message, do they get two separate notifications at the same time? (i.e. “You were mentioned in a post” and “Your topic has received a comment”)

I would obviously like to avoid triggering two notifications for the same comment, as that would seem spammy.

thanks!

Heya @Daniele Cmty !

As someone who’s done this thousands of times, I can confirm that the answer is no. The “You were mentioned” alert overrides the general “there’s a new reply” alert, so you’ll only ever get one or the other. Since there’s no value in sending out both, the platform makes sure to prevent that.

However, you also can’t test that by mentioning yourself. :)
