“You have reached the limit.” Error when replying to PMs

Hi! I’m getting this error when replying to private messages. I’m not copy/pasting so I doubt it’s a character issue. 
 

Is there a setting for how many PMs you can send in a day?

@Kgastaldo Were you sending multiple back to back PMs? We do have some rate limiting in place to prevent spam attacks, I suspect you may have run up against that.


Hey Zach - I assumed that was it, but after some time, I was still getting the message when trying to send one reply. Can you tell me what the rate limit is? It’s built-in, right? Nothing we set on our end.


Hi @Kgastaldo I did some digging and our rate limiting actually should not apply to private messages. 

Do you happen to recall the exact wording of the error you saw? 


It just said “you have reached the limit” - not anything about characters or number of messages. I wasn’t copy/pasting large content or anything strange. Just trying to reply to 10 or so messages in one day.


We got this error now.

I have sent less than 20 PM`s today and when I wanted to send 2 more (same message to 2 users) I got this error:
 

How long I should wait and what are the limits here? Or is this a bug?


Hey @revote - sorry for the delay.  It’s not been easy getting a definitive answer to exactly how this mechanism works.  Working on it!  :)
