The best way to track course engagement and drop off is through Gainsight CE’s Single Course Analysis dashboard. This feature is designed to help admins and course creators understand learner engagement and content effectiveness within individual courses.

Items to keep in mind:
- Freeform vs. Linear Courses:
- Freeform Courses: Learners can start at any point within the course (engagement can vary significantly across different activities)
- Linear Courses: Learners follow a sequential path, usually showing a steady decline in engagement.
- Activity Engagement Metrics:
- Light Green Bar: Number of learners who viewed the activity.
- Dark Green Bar: Number of learners who completed the activity.
Example in the video: You see there is a large dip of learners who viewed the activity vs those who completed the activity. What could be the cause? Content is confusing, not engaging enough, too long, incorrect expectations were set, etc.
This dashboard is crucial for not only Gainsight CE admins, but Instructional Designers who may have supported building content as well. This data will help you in managing content, identifying effective and ineffective activities, and improving overall course design.
