Date Value in Spreadsheet needs to be converted

Hi,

I wondered if this is common but when I download a report from gainsight that contains a date value its not a recognised date in excel, so I need to perform a convert using the =datevalue formula.

Is this a common issue? or is there an easy way around it?

A solution I’ve used when looking at timestamps in excel is using the custom format cells option in Excel, then matching how the timestamp appears (or how it should be) with either a) one of the pre-built custom options or b) typing in the correct formatting in the box.  Can take a bit of finessing, but if it’s a dataset you work with regularly, you can keep the date format saved somewhere, and just copy it into the box when needed.

I’d love to hear if anyone has solved for this. My habit of changing the cell formatting so my spreadsheet app recognizes dates (and also often numbers) after downloading is a strong one.

I like the approach, @Stuart.

I’m forever wrestling with the need to adjust data formats after exporting data. Any ideas to speed this up are welcome.
