Question: If you have created a custom calculation in the rules engine, and want to put that output into a dashboard how would you go about doing this? It seems like the only way to do this would be to create a custom field in SFDC and assign the output to that; is there another way to achieve this or is the only way to achieve this, by creating a custom field in SFDC?

Currently, no. If there were the ability for calculated fields in reports, then you could represent them on dashboards from there.

As you've stated already, you will need to create a field (e.g. on the Customer Info object) to store the data and then load that calculated field into that object. You can than reference that field on reports.

Adding calculated fields in reports is something we are currently working on. We expect it in the next quarter. That will cut down scenarios where you have to create persistent custom fields in SFDC and / or rules to propagate the values.

Thanks all-- michelle was kind enough to post the question. I am super excited about using the calculated fields in reporting more easily, almost all of the requests that I'm getting from sr mgmt require some sort of aggregation!

Thanks again!
