I am trying to confirm the difference between Simple and Advanced programs. Any documentation or references would be great.

Simple Programs work for sending a single email and having data already prepared - CSV, Data Designer, Segment
Advanced work for having multiple step actions (email, wait, 2nd email, wait, create CTA - for example) and the data you use could be already prepared or you could use Query Builder to build a dataset “on-the-fly” for use only this program.
