Hey ​@revote - it’s a good question and it has come up before (we have some ideas around it).  There’s no simple or native way to change the default topic type today.  As is often the case, I do believe it’s possible to change it with some custom code, but we don’t have an example of that code (tried and tested) so you’d need to try it out and test it yourself, with all the caveats that come with those kinds of scripts.  I was curious myself, and actually quite quickly got a script partially working in our sandbox (it changed the default selection but not the styling for the currently selected option).  So I believe it’s possible.
