As an Admin, what would be the best way to make an announcement so that everybody in the community is notified?  Is there a way?

Thank you so much!

Jamie

Hi Jamie! Writing this suggestion with the understanding that you are a Community Manager (admin) wanting to notify everyone (members).

  1. Publish a post or article in your main community forum (you likely have a forum for Announcements or News).
    • Make it sticky
    • Grab the URL and feature the post in your home page
  2. Send out an email with the email campaign feature
    • Link to the article/post within your email

The thought process is that not all of your members are subscribed to your forums, and not all of your members are logging in to view the home page, so with this strategy you are sending out a notification to all members and then leading them to your community to learn more.

Small note:

When using Emal Campaign, it does not send email to all the members. It will send email to members who have been active last 12 months.

There is no way no notify to all of the members.

You have to export member list and send email using third party tool.

Yes I’d like to discuss this strategic decision with someone.  The people I need to reach out to the most are the ones not returning :)

Curious on this (@Kenneth R for vis) -- is the full member list automatically exported to an object in Gainsight CS (once we have that integration set up) that I could then use in a JO to send an email to all of our Community members from there? And importantly, would that object also have their community email/notification preferences, so we could honor their preferences if they said they did not want to receive any email campaigns?

There are situations when you have to notify all the members. For example when new Terms of Use are set.

There should be easy way to notify all the members. Without exporting any member lists and without to need to use 3rd party tools.

💯

For us, our community members will be users, so we’ll already have their user email address. However, not all users will be community members (they’ll have to enroll in the community). Furthermore, not all users will have the same email subscription settings, though these situations where we have to notify all community members outweigh that campaign setting.

In these cases, we obviously don’t want to email all of our users who are not community members, so unless we have easy access to the full user list in CS, we won’t be able to send a JO notifying them -- and CSV exports aren’t desirable.

And like @juan.delrio said, these types of messages would need to go to inactive users too.

This is EXACTLY the reason this is sooo important.  Community engagement.  I don’t need to engage the people that are super engaged as much, they’re great.  It’s the folks I need to help along that aren’t as engaged that need the most attention.  Great point Juan
