Question

Keyword blocker flagging posts unnecessary

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hello, I believe I’m experiencing something similar to what this community member from several years ago described:

Our keyword blocker appears to be overly sensitive, snagging posts that don’t contain any of the keywords we’ve added.

I’ve edited out details of the posters involved for privacy, but confirmed that their usernames aren’t on the keyword list either.

Hi @mbuuck1 - are you certain it’s the keyword blocker and not the spam filter?  The keyword blocker will send topics into the ‘pending’ queue, whereas topics that the spam filter has flagged will show in the ‘spam’ queue.  The spam filter will sometimes have a false positive.  In those cases it’s important to mark them as ‘not spam’.

Hi @Kenneth R, thanks for jumping in this thread! Yes, I’m certain it’s the keyword blocker, as these posts are ending up in the “pending” queue. We do also experience the false positive with the spam filter that you described, in which case we do mark them as “not spam”. This issue with the keyword blocker is also occurring, and with different posts like my example above that are seemingly fine.

Hi @mbuuck1 - let me send you a PM as I think we need some specific examples.  :)
