I have users that have customized their Gainsight Home with stale reports that need to be deprecated, and I don’t believe there is a way for me to do any of these things:

  • Force remove the reports that are being deprecated
  • Force update specific user’s Gainsight Home
  • See which users have customized their Gainsight Home and what those customizations are
  • Update a specific user’s customized Gainsight Home
  • Force update all users to use the admin generated Gainsight Home(s)
  • Login as a user and make modifications to their config

Is there some other way to approach this? I’ve attempted to contact users that show up on the asset usage report that I’ve built, but it is still relying on them to make the necessary changes. Also, there must be users out there that have custom GH and are not viewing it, and not registering counts on my report.

The only workaround I can think of (I did exactly that in the past) is for this one:

I have users that have customized their Gainsight Home with stale reports that need to be deprecated, and I don’t believe there is a way for me to do any of these things:

  • Force update all users to use the admin generated Gainsight Home(s)

Clone your Home, make the changes there, and assign it. Then, delete the older layout.

@jason_metzler We’ve also run into this issue a few times and unfortunately, as you’ve both alluded to, there is no easy or convenient way to force update.

Here’s what I did: I provided Gainsight Support with the stale report names, along with the Home layout name, and in return they were able to provide me with a list of users who were using these stale reports in their personalized Home views. They were able to provide me with both the user’s names along with their GSIDs so I could reach out to the users personally and ask them to update their Homes to the latest admin published version.

Of course, this method is heavily dependent on two separate groups of people: 1) Gainsight Support (providing the list of users), and 2) internal users (using stale reports). These dependencies make this method less than ideal.

Ideally, it would be amazing to allow admins to force update specific groups or all users’ Homes instead of having to rely on others to do it.

Perhaps this should be an idea so it can be upvoted?

I would’ve sworn I commented on an idea exactly like that, but can’t find it @kstim
I suppose I’m mixing memories with a thread in Slack 😵💫

@romihache I do it constantly!
