I’d like to be able to have a moderator role with restrictions to specific categories.

Moderator Can:

  • Create content in that category
  • Moderate content in that category
  • Reorder content in that category (for Knowledge Base)
  • See analytics for content in that category (nice-to-have, not must have)

Moderator Cannot:

  • Create content in other catgories
  • Moderate content in other categories
  • Edit category details beyond reordering content
  • Edit other settings and customization options
  • Access Users module (may not work with Moderator access, but I don’t love that they can access the user data and band users if they don’t need this)

Use case: Collaboration with colleagues you want to empower to own a specific category (including reordering the the KB content), but limiting their access to only a specific category (or categories).

Current limitations:

  1. Granting moderator role to the user provides undesire funcationality to publish/moderate in any category.
  2. Platform module access is required to reorder content in a category
    1. Provides ability edit any category across all modules, rather than just specific category(ies)
    2. Provides ability edit other features in the category that they shouldn’t touch

Impact: makes the Community Manager a bottle neck to reorder content OR grant more access than the user needs (which presents risk)

I’d love to see this, especially in respect to ideation moderation. In my company, the Community team moderates discussion topics (conversations & questions) while our Product Operations team moderates product ideas. We’d like to see a clearer way for admins to to delineate where moderators of specific types can and cannot operate.
