After updating a field description have it automatically reflected in the dependent reports

I did some field descriptions updates via Data Management and realized when hovering over them the tooltips where showing the old one.

 


I submitted a ticket about this issue almost 3 months ago, and after a lot of back-and-forth trying to figure out what the issue was the response I just got is ”Currently the functionality is that when ever a field is added to a report builder and saved the report metadata is saved in a collection at backend and description field data also saves as part of the metadata.”. TLDR: Is intended behaviour and not a bug, please submit a feature request.

The only way to make these updates visible in a report is to delete the field from the show me section and re-add it after each description update. Which by the way, unless you are the person doing the update you have to guess when happened, because the last modified on is not a field in data management either 😓 (Idea related to that →

+1000, product consistency is critical. The existing inconsistency, coupled with a lack of transparency, contributes to an unnecessarily frustrating experience.

I didn’t realize descriptions were showing now but yes, if they show, no lag or lack of updates when we update them in Data Management sounds essential.
