Fix Link Editing UX in Timeline Activity Draft

Related products:None

awatling

When editing Timeline activity drafts, when one goes to link text, the experience is not intuitive and results in extra clicking. It also isn’t in line with most modern link editing UX.

  • Using the Command/Control + K Shortcut brings you to editing the link display text, not the actual link you’re inserting.
  • If you hit enter while doing so the whole timeline activity is saved, not the link you’re adding.

Suggestions:

  • Default the cursor to the URL, not the link text box
  • Don’t make me click on a checkmark, make it so that pressing ‘Enter’ saves the link.

+1 to this, this issue still exists and often messes up my notes. Is there a release date fix?

+1 to this. Expected workflow:

  1. CTRL+K triggers popup, URL field has :focus, ready to accept link
  2. CTRL+V pastes link into URL field
  3. ENTER closes popup, inserting hyperlink into text.

As often as we need to share increasingly complex links with peers—and as many of us are using multiple monitors these days—it would be really nice if someone would give an engineer 30 minutes to make these presumably freshman-level CSS updates.

Whether we remember Gainsight still doesn’t work like everything else in this regard or have to reopen the thing and retype the text that was replaced by the link instead of hyperlinked, it’s still distractingly frustrating UX.

Looks like it’s been outstanding 2 years now? Please and thank you.
