I have found an issue for users on Windows downloading the rule results file.

The system does not allow csv.gz files to be opened and Winzip is iffy with it.

I have found that 7zip works but I think it would be a huge help to be able to configure how you are exporting and into what format.

Yes this would be extremely helpful. For smaller sized files (like, less than 500 records) a CSV should suffice, no?

Agreed. GNU zip files (files with .gz extension) are a common file archive format in Unix based systems, and 7zip can handle them easily. There are also command line tools for unzipping gzip files, but a regular zip option would be helpful for broader compatibility.
