I added group tags and then just sort of made extra because I was playing around.
Now, I have like 10 group tags and 3 groups.

Don’t panic, that happens to the best of us. :)
The fix for this should be pretty quick to pull off. Simply strip the Group Tags you don’t want to keep from ALL Groups and the tags should disappear. The only ones that will show up for users will be those that are actually attached to a live group. The rest will get a coat of invisibility paint. As long as you never use the unwanted ones again, they shouldn’t be a problem.
You can’t easily delete them from Control though - but your users won’t know that. :)
If you have one, it’s also a good idea to use your staging instance for testing and experiments. That way, if you cause things to implode like this, the damage is contained too. Bonus!
