I have a customer that would like to be able to move a couple objective categories to a new success plan type. Currently the only way of doing this is to remove each category and add it back again but that can be a hassle to do if a lot of these need switched around.

I would like to start a discussion here so we can get some input as well as some feedback from the product team.

I agree here! We need to create other success plan templates that we now realize should have the ability to use existing objective categories and we cannot edit those existing ones, and we can't make new ones with the same name because a current one already exists. And we didn't make the objective categories "all" by default when we first made them. Also we cannot delete the current objective categories because they are in use by other plans.

There should be a way to change this or for Gainsight support to do this on the backend.

Please provide a status on this. I have already spent way too much time manually doing this and as Success Plans get more widely adopted across your customer-base, you're likely going to find that this is very rate-limiting.
