Is there a way to show a warning when you select a particular drop-down in Timeline Activity?

When  a CSM wants to add a Timeline Activity, I want to throw a warning to the CSM depending on the drop-down he/she selects. For instance there are some Timeline Activities which effect the Health Score whereas some don’t.  So depending on what someone chooses, I want to show a small message which says “This effects the Health Score” or not.. You get the point.

Hi @wmurthy - that’s a great idea. In other systems, these are either called tool tips or validation rules. A tool tip would allow you to have just a generic message on each field and a validation rule could be specific for the dropdown item they select.

This is possible in most CRMs but it’s unfortunately currently not possible in Gainsight. There are a few ideas already posted for functionality for a tool tip. Please help vote for these ideas:

What I have done in the past is included the details on the dropdown options. So for example, if the dropdown is for Favourite Color, you can do something like this for the options:

  • Red
  • Blue
  • Green (Impacts Health Score)
  • Yellow – Impacts Health Score

This will allow your users to be aware of the impact it has on the Health Score without the tool tips.
