When Exporting your Topics data from the CC, the export INCLUDES all topics in the system.
The export will give you everything including all of the draft, deleted and moderated topics.
So if you simply look at a grand total, you will see the SUM of every Topic in the system.
The Content Dashboard filters on Visible content only. That is a filter is applied where topic_status = visible.
In the screenshot below you can see the Content Dashboard displaying 78 Topics created.
Whereas the pivot table shows a GrandTotal of 90. The visible column shows the equivalent 78.
Now knowing the filter required, you BI dashboard can match the CC Dashboard.
