Howdy Folks!

I just got back from a week long conference in which most of the sessions seemed to be the standard interview where there is a couple of chairs and a staff member asks one or two guests predetermined questions. Its been done before and, honestly speaking, after the 2nd or 3rd time seeing a session like that you get tired of it. I’m sure that to some degree this interview format will be use at Pulse 2025 as well, which is fine however, I would like to suggest that the event staff consider having a few sessions in the format of Hot Ones. Specifically, there would be a table with chicken wings, or the preferred veggie, which is covered in varying degrees hot sauce and the interviewer and guests eat one for each question in order of least hot to most hot. There are many examples of this online so its easy to get inspiration from and I think it would be a huge hit if @nick_mehta or some other members of the event staff participated in this. Regardless adding this as an option to some of the sessions may be a good way to “spice” things up.

I know there are Hot Ones kits for purchase online which can be used to do these kind of interviews so it may be fairly easy to set this up.

TLDR;
Pulse 2025 event staff please consider the following:
The standard interview format is boring, spice it up and have a few sessions formatted like the Hot Ones show where the guests and interviewer eat wings or a veggie covered in varying degrees of hot sauce for each question that is asked.  It would be cool if the CEO or some other leadership members would participate in a session where polled questions from the community are asked while they eat hot wings.

This would be so fun, and I bet you would get eyeballs on the session.

@awells hopefully, if you’ve been to Pulse, you know we’re not like other conferences! While I love the idea of Hot Ones, that may have to be something we look into for future years. But, that being said, we are definitely mixing up the types of sessions and networking events for the Pulse agenda. Here are a few things you can expect to experience at Pulse in May!

  • 1:Many Presentations
  • 5-Minute Mentor
  • Industry Panels
  • Circles of Success
  • Innovation Incubator

Be sure to check out our full agenda here!

@KatLeong
Ive been to Pulse before and I know there are a bunch of different sessions going on and for the most part it was (and hopefully still will be) diverse in terms of format, however, I think you may be underestimating the delight the conference goers would experience if they got to see Nick Mehta (and/or others, maybe yourself...) answering questions while eating varying degrees of hot wings. Honestly if you folks worked this into Pulse I’m certain that this would be one of the more popular sessions. The session title could be:
“Gainsight CEO, Nick Mehta takes on the Hot Ones challenge”
with a description of:
“Join Gainsight CEO, Nick Mehta and other members of Gainsight leadership for a hot discussion while they take on the hot ones Challenge all the while answering your questions. There will be laughs, there will be tears, there will be spilled milk, and most of all there will be fun.”

I’m just pointing out that most folks have been to a conference before and no matter which one you go to there is almost always a session (or multiple sessions) where they roll out the chairs and just sit there asking predetermined questions leaving maybe 3 minutes for Q&A from the crowd. Its boring at this point. However, I have yet been to or heard of a conference where one of the sessions was done in the style of a Hot Ones interview. You folks could be the first…

Side note I guess I should have created this as an idea so people could upvote it if they wanted to. hindsight and all that.
