Question: Have you encountered the need to reset the SFDC Connection in Gainsight? Due to employee turnover, you've lost the login credentials for our integration user, and you're looking to reset the password to re-authorize the connection. Are there any specific challenges or considerations you should be aware of in this process? Additionally, if the reset is completed, does it require a reconfiguration of the Company Sync job?

Answer: Certainly! When resetting the SFDC Connection in Gainsight, it's crucial to ensure that the newly assigned user maintains the same permissions as the previous integration user. A dedicated integration user is recommended over a human user for optimal security and system compatibility. By following this approach, you can streamline the re-authorization process and avoid potential hiccups. Keep in mind that after resetting the connection, it's advisable to verify and, if necessary, update the Company Sync job configurations to ensure seamless data synchronization. If you have any further questions or insights on this topic, feel free to share them here!

A special thanks to @gunjanm  for highlighting this important question.

I also note that if one clicks Reauthorize Connection, this will then put the SFDC-GS integration upon the currently logged-in SFDC user. Some think this is a reauthorization of the existing integration user, but that’s not the case; upon reauthorization the SFDC user logged in at the moment of reauth becomes the integrating user. Thus, it’s easy to have the integration end up in a user’s name, because they clicked the Reauthorize Connection when logged in as themselves.

@vgaurav do you know if the out of the box Salesforce Integration user license (Salesforce API Only System Integrations profile) will work for the dedicated integration user if using the connector?

@Stevie_Caterina I checked with the team and the answer is Yes, we can use a Salesforce User who only has the API Only Salesforce Integration profile, as all communications between the two systems use the REST or Bulk API in Salesforce.
