Change Link text for shared links

Hello,

Is there a way to change the Heading and the text which is displayed when sharing the link to the community site? The standard is like:

Join the conversation | Community
On the Forum you can ask questions or take part in discussions.

Could this be customized?

Thx in advance
Andy

I guess I have a solution! 😁

Your approach above was absolutly right above. There was just one Metatag missing.

Here are the Metatags i have now to finally customize the link.

Take care when creating the key 3! The

tags are added automatically. The key to enter is just “On the {forum} you can ask for help or participate in discussions.”

The Forum Metatags above change the Link texts as follows.

Hope this helps everybody who is also struggeling with the link text phrases.

Just as a note: If you test your links by sharing them in a Messenger like MS Teams, make sure to clean the cache! This also costs me a lot of time until I know that key 3 was already correct but i have cached the old version. 😅

Have a nice day!

@Andreas Janisch , looks like you and @JessicaMendez are on the same same quest?

You could start by what she has already done.

Let us know if that worked

@anirbandutta, thx for the quick response. Not really sure if this is the same text i mean. I talk about the heading and the description when you share the link for example in MS Teams.

Seems like the Meta description text is not the same. See below

Andy

Yes, it is the SEO Meta Title and Description that shows up in your Social sharing blurb on internal & external social tools

Change them

  1. Meta homepage title from: Customization > Site Identity > Meta Title
  2. Meta Homepage description from: Customization > Phrases > Forum Metatags

@anirbandutta, sorry but this don’t work for me.

  1. Meta homepage title from: Customization > Site Identity > Meta Title
    Changed the Meta Title to a custom text
  2. Meta Homepage description from: Customization > Phrases > Forum Metatags
    Changed the Forum Metatag with the key community.name to custom name

The key community.name is the only key I can found for Forum Metatags. As described above try to change both but the result is still the same…

Please create a new Forum Metatags Phrase with the following key

On the
{forum}
you can ask for help or participate in discussions.

or the message you want...

Here’s our settings. See how the phrases show up

@anirbandutta , try my best to get it running. Could it be that there is some delay when you change something? Because it seems that no changes i make have an impact…But i played around with it 2 days ago. Seems that the Title of the community is still something from that time.

Also added the exact key you provided me above...also no impact on the link description...

Thx for your help

Hmm… Ok.

Let me try to get some more expertise 👀 on this

@anirbandutta just a short update…
seems that there is a delay. The title works now for me...the description don’t. Maybe it also takes some time until it gets updated. I will keep an eye on it and let you know if there are any updates.

Wonderful but strange.

I’d say pl do create a ticket for more qualified assistance, if this doesn't get resolved still.

@anirbandutta
Nothing changed so far. Title is working but description is not.

thx for your help anyway. I will raise a ticket and come back when I got a solution. 😉

Ah… that’s a key call out!

Well done Andreas, and thank you for documenting in a 1-2-3 visual format. Super helpful 👏
