A Claude account and a dream

Hi All,

I’ve recently started exploring using Claude to generate custom reports from our community data, and I’m curious how others are approaching this.

Gainsight’s native reporting is solid, but we’re running into limitations when it comes to extracting insights from the actual content of community posts. Right now, we’re manually copying tagged posts into an AI tool to summarize themes and pull out actionable insights for cross-functional teams, which obviously doesn’t scale.

What I’d like to build is something more automated, potentially a bot powered by Claude, that can:

  • Pull content from community posts
  • Analyze themes, sentiment, and key actions
  • Generate custom reports tailored to what leadership wants to see
  • Continuously monitor for new posts and flag anything important to moderators

A few specific questions:

  1. Does the Gainsight Community API provide access to post content in a way that would support this kind of workflow?
  2. Has anyone built something similar using AI for community insights and reporting?
  3. Are there better architectural approaches I should be considering here?

I’m not looking to add AI-generated responses into the community itself. This would be more of an internal “AI analyst” that helps us understand what’s happening and act on it.

Would love to hear how others are tackling this or if there are smarter ways to approach it.

Depending on your needs, this might not be granular enough, but I was able to accomplish the analysis part of your request with Claude by giving it the RSS feed url for the community and then just giving a prompt of what data I want to see. It’s pretty neat and flexible and by using RSS, I don’t have to touch the API at all. The tricky part might be how you keep the dashboard persistent and accessible long-term, depending on what tools you have available to you.

For the real-time flagging of things for moderators, I did a little experiment a few weeks ago where I used Workato (though Zapier would also work) to run every post’s text through an AI text analyzer and then get a moderator label applied if it qualified. I’m sure you could do the same and have a label like Needs attention or even trigger an email or Slack message for posts that need immediate eyes on them.

I’m really interested in doing something similar! My use case is a bit different, but ideally, I need a way to give Claude access to the entire body of content of my community. It sounds like an official community MCP just for this purpose is on its way to us, which is what I plan to use!

@mbuuck1 @SimonH Thank you for your thoughts! A couple of things I've run into:

The RSS approach works as a quick way to pull recent content, but there's no way to pull historical posts or filter by date. Seems capped to the most recent ~20–50 posts. Fine for ongoing monitoring and automation, but not enough for the full historical and flexible analysis I'm looking for.

I think I need to plug into the Gainsight Community API to pull the content from my private community, and then connect that to the Anthropic API to run Claude analysis and build out a dashboard.

Has anyone successfully used the Gainsight Community API for bulk content pulls, esp. in a private community? Or maybe I just need to wait for the official MCP? Will MCP be able to pull content from private community?

@bens44 Just wanted to say that that’s exactly the route I had started exploring before I learned of the MCP. I didn’t make it far into my research, but I do think that the API would give us all the information we need. I’m eager to hear if others have done so! 👀

Our team is currently using the data lake connector to replace Excel exports we were doing to populate our BI reporting dashboard. They are also looking at using it to pull data over for our AI tools to access such as Claude. We need to be able to get data that’s not public facing such as our Ideas.
