Category Page Search

I just would like it confirmed that we cannot change the Category Page search filtering?

i.e. We cannot turn OFF the contextual filtering applied in the search request. Remove the q parameter in the url

A team member has asked if we can make all search options work the same no matter where the search occurs.

I have not seen a way to modify search or urls.

@Larry, @Graeme Rycyk or another at GS might be able to answer definitively however.
