Howdy!
Just a quick one that I’ve noticed recently, roughly in the last week or two. Given that I’m able to reliably reproduce it over here as well as my usual home, it’s unlikely that any tweaks or customisations are causing the issue. I tend to use a sort of template for these, so here goes.
One of the features I make constant use of, are the jump links to the latest comments in threads - especially from the Recent Activity feed which I patrol on a frequent basis. It usually works great and gets me to the right place, even across pages. For some reason though, this has suddenly stopped working unless the latest comment is on page one. If it’s on any other page, I just get dropped onto page one and have to go from there manually.
What’s the problem?
Fast jump/jump links are broken for multi-page threads.
How can I make it happen?
- Find a thread with many pages. A perfect example would be this one
- Post a new comment on the thread
- Go to the Recently Active feed and find the thread
- Click on the fast jump to try and get back to your comment
What should happen when I do this?
I should be taken to the thread and instantly zip straight to the new comment
What happens instead?
I land on Page 1 of the thread instead
Is there anything else which might be useful to know?
This feature seemed to work fine until roughly a week or two ago when it broke. It only affects threads where pagination is active, so those with just one page continue to work as expected. It’s possible that this bug might affect other methods of fast jump as well, but this is the easiest one for me to trigger it.
