InSided aims to help its customers find reliable data. We are currently working on improving some of the dashboards, and want to ensure that the data we display in all the dashboards is relevant to you. We would like to share some of our ideas and hear your feedback.

If you are interested in having a call where you can test some of our prototypes please don’t hesitate to email me directly at spop@gainsight.com

🎯 Goal

What we want to achieve:

  • New ideation trends table design

  • New metrics have been added and some of existing changed: idea status (now), creation date, company that created the idea, company votes, total votes, company replies, total replies, company views, total views, product area (now)

  • The ideation table can be customisable, so that you can see only the metrics relevant to you

🤔 Questions

What we need clarification on:

  1. Which metrics in this dashboard are important to you?

  2. What would you like to see on this dashboard?

  3. Do you find all the metrics you need in the new table?

  4. Is any specific metric missing?

No specific comments other than this looks headed in the right direction for me and our usage. We’re not using it much, but this would accelerate our adoption.

  1. Maybe I’d like to see how long ideas in a certain product category have had a certain status.. Meaning that it’d probably show us if some ideas have for example the status “In progress” longer.

This is definitely headed in the right direction, though there are a few additional notes I’d suggest that would be helpful for my team.

  • I know this is mentioned in the original post, but I’d like to double click on the importance of being able to see and filter this dashboard by Company/Account.
    • For our customer success and product teams, it provides a ton of insight into over customer health to analyze the ideation activity a certain Account has had. For example, CompanyA has submitted x ideas, voted on y ideas, and replied to z ideas. This is helpful for both number but also which ideas.
  • Being able to select the criteria of the bar charts. I agree that Delivered, Open, and Closed are important, but also being able to filter by Idea Status and seeing the distribution of custom statuses we put in place, for example, Closed - Support Ticket vs. Closed - Not Doing and being able to better analyze from there.
    • For example, if they have a lot of Closed - Support Ticket ideas, maybe that provides insight to our customer support and success teams to better train the customer on what ideas or feedback is suited for the community vs. what would be better handled as a support ticket.
  • I’m a bit weary of the dates shown in the bar graph, only because I know there is some wonkiness with the dates in the Q&A/Success Dashboard (something about when the questions were asked vs. when they were answered and what is included in the count when you add date parameters). Is this date by Idea Created? by last activity? I’d just make sure that part is very clear.
  • For the table view portion, I wouldn’t limit it to just Open Ideas (also, some of the ideas in the screenshot were Closed statuses, so that’s inconsistent with the title of the table). What if I want to see all ideas that CompanyA has engaged with? I’d suggest that the idea status is added as a filter type so people have the option to just see the Open ideas if they want to.
  • I do think another thing that would be helpful for my team is a table showing all community members by that account with their idea activity stats (for that matter, would be helpful for other content types and across the rest of the platform as well), but specifically for ideas, rows being the community member and then columns for # of idea votes, # of ideas submitted, # of idea replies. That way we can also easily see which member(s) from that account are perhaps the most active in the ideation area.

A bit of “thinking out loud” here but that is the direction that would be very helpful for my organization.
