Hello,

We have connected Zapier to our product ideas dashboard to allow our product team to make their comments and status changes in Jira while allowing the comments and status changes to be automatically sent to Gainsight.

Is there a way to make sure our customers are recieving the comments and status changes via email?

Those who post the idea and vote for the idea should automatically be subscribed, I believe.

@DannyPancratz, that’s what I thought too. The customer was the creator, and they didn’t receive the notification. Could it be that the Zapier connection isn’t triggering the email, which is why the notification isn’t being sent?

@Support?

You know what? I tried something like this via Zapier a few years back. Jira triggering a status change via the API.

From what I recall… It’s a difference in how the status changes work manually via API.

  • When we changed it via the API, the status did update, but it didn’t show as a comment like we often see. (and thus the subscribers are not notified via email / notification center)
  • When we change it manually, the status change also shows as a a reply (automated somehow by the platform) and users received notifications.

That’s the issue.

So you could replicate that by adding a reply to your automation that says that the status was updated. That should trigger the notification (although the notification will use the “reply” template)

Thats it. Many thanks @DannyPancratz
