Our Japan team is considering moving our Japanese knowledge base to gainsight, and also create custom pages for Japan. I thought I saw some announcements on this, but unable to find. thanks

Hey @Thomas Deely 👋,

This is possible by creating dedicated language categories within the Community or Knowledge Base module:

These categories will appear only when the respective language e.g. Japanese, is selected from the language selector.

You could also localise your homepage so that Japanese custom pages are only visible if Japanese is selected:

You can check out our other documentation on localisation capabilities, including AI powered translations for user generated content in our CC Knowledge Base here.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I worked at Palo Alto Networks and helped to launch their community in 5 different languages. https://live.paloaltonetworks.com is their url. The world icon opens to select languages. Once selected, custom landing pages appears to show everything translated into the selected native language.

Maybe some inspo. Best of luck in the build!

thanks @olimarrio can we allow the ability to create foreign language events? for example, Japan events would only be visible to customers who have Japanese language selector.

@Thomas Deely no it’s currently not possible, all events will appear in the list of upcoming and past events.

I can see you are already using the Event Types filter to allow your Japanese members to find these events more easily.

One thing you could consider doing is personalising the Events page for when Japanese is selected (so you personalise the Japanese version of the page only) and add a Featured Topics widget to promote Japanese events and give them more visibility.

This would require a small level of ongoing manual work to ensure that the Featured Topics widget remains up to date when new Japanese events are posted. You’d also have the option of hiding the Events List widget if you want the Japanese page to only display the events you select.

I have custom groups for languages outside of English. They are moderated by employees who are in the region. We created a group for them where all content in their native language and name is in their native language. When you create an event, pick the group for it to be targeted towards. They also post something new inside of the group to market the event better to those regions.

Users would have to be in that group however which could be harder to accomplish.

Really liking the idea of language switcher pushing content in those native languages @olimarrio I need to look into that more!
